Scarlett Johansson has taken legal action against Lisa AI: 90s Yearbook & Avatar, an artificial intelligence app that used the actress’ face and voice in an advertisement without her permission. According to her representatives, she is not endorsing the app. Kevin Yorn, Johansson’s lawyer, stated that they will take all necessary legal actions to address this matter. Several other celebrities have also experienced similar issues with AI technology.

According to a statement given to Variety by Johansson’s representatives, the actress who stars in “Asteroid City” is not endorsing the app. Similarly, Tom Hanks took to Instagram in early October to warn his followers about a promotional video that featured his doppelganger promoting a dental plan. The 67-year-old star posted a photo of the lookalike and advised his fans to be cautious, clarifying that he was not involved with the AI version of himself in any way.

Variety reported that a brief video lasting 22 seconds was posted on X (previously Twitter) over the weekend, but it was later removed from the internet. The video featured an old clip of Scarlett Johansson, aged 38, captured while she was filming for “Black Widow” behind the scenes. A lot of actors taking part in the SAG-AFTRA strike are also enthusiastic about using AI and digital recreation.

The Writers Guild of America recently ended a five-month strike and they demanded to prohibit the use of AI for writing or rewriting source material. President Joe Biden has now signed an executive order that will regulate the development of artificial intelligence.

As per White House Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed, President Biden’s growing concerns over the potential risks of AI were intensified after he watched the Hollywood blockbuster “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” starring Tom Cruise. Reed revealed that this was not the only incident that fueled Biden’s worries as he also witnessed the technology generate fake images of himself and his pet dog through AI and experienced the terrifying technology of voice cloning.
